About Aegis Heating and Air
Aegis Heating and Air is a locally owned HVAC contractor based in West Valley City, Utah, serving homes and businesses across Salt Lake County. We were founded on a simple idea: the people responsible for keeping your home comfortable should be the kind of people you’d be glad to invite back. That means clean work, honest pricing, technicians who explain what they’re doing, and a phone that gets answered when you call.
Meet Patrick Dugger, Owner
Patrick Dugger founded Aegis Heating and Air after more than 18 years installing and servicing HVAC systems across the Wasatch Front. His approach is rooted in something most large HVAC companies have lost: a direct relationship between a contractor and the homeowner he serves.
Patrick grew up in Murray and started in the trade as an apprentice straight out of high school, working his way through ductwork crews, service truck rotations, and commercial rooftop installs before earning his journeyman license. After a decade running service calls and lead-installing for two of the larger contractors in the valley, he saw enough quotes padded with line items homeowners didn’t need to decide there was a better way to run a shop. He still lives in the valley with his wife and three kids, and you’ll usually find him on a fishing boat at Strawberry Reservoir when he gets a weekend off.
Patrick holds NATE (North American Technician Excellence) certification in both Air Conditioning and Gas Heating, an EPA 608 Universal certification for refrigerant handling, and a Utah S350 Mechanical Contractor license (#11234567-5501). He’s a factory-trained Trane Comfort Specialist and a Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Contractor, and he completes manufacturer continuing-education hours every year to stay current on inverter-driven and dual-fuel systems now standard in new installs.
When you call Aegis, you’re calling a company where Patrick still personally reviews every estimate that goes out the door.
Why We Started Aegis
Most homeowners in West Valley City, Kearns, Magna, Taylorsville, West Jordan, and Salt Lake City have a story about an HVAC company that overpromised and underdelivered. A technician who pushed an unnecessary system replacement. A quote that doubled by the time the job was finished. A “lifetime warranty” buried in fine print no one read.
Aegis exists because that doesn’t have to be the experience. We started this company to do HVAC the way it should be done — with honest diagnostics, fair pricing, and workmanship that holds up after the truck pulls out of the driveway.
Built for the Salt Lake Valley
HVAC in the Salt Lake Valley isn’t the same as HVAC anywhere else, and the contractors who pretend otherwise tend to install the wrong equipment.
We’re sitting at roughly 4,300 feet of elevation across most of the valley floor. Thinner air carries less heat, which means cooling equipment has to be sized differently — a unit that’s correctly tonned for sea-level Phoenix will short-cycle in West Valley City. Our winters drop well below zero during inversions; our summers push past 100°F in stretches that can run a full week at a time. Lake-effect moisture off the Great Salt Lake changes humidity patterns on the west side, affecting indoor air quality in Magna and the surrounding communities. The Wasatch Front’s persistent winter inversions, documented by the Utah Division of Air Quality, mean indoor air filtration matters more here than in most parts of the country.
We size, install, and service equipment with all of this in mind. That’s the difference between a contractor who happens to work in Utah and one who actually understands Utah.
How We Work
Every job starts with a real diagnostic. Before we quote, we measure: static pressure across the air handler, refrigerant charge by superheat or subcool, combustion analysis on gas equipment, duct sizing relative to system tonnage. We don’t sell you a new system because the old one crossed an arbitrary age threshold — we recommend replacement when the math on repair-versus-replace actually points that direction, and we show you that math.
Our process is simple:
- Honest diagnostic. We tell you what’s actually wrong, not what’s most profitable to fix.
- Written quote with line items. No “miscellaneous” charges. No surprises on the invoice.
- Clean workmanship. Drop cloths, shoe covers, debris hauled away when we leave.
- Real warranties. Manufacturer warranty plus our own labor warranty, both in writing.
- Follow-up. We check in after the install to confirm the system is performing the way we promised it would.
Who We Serve
We serve residential and light commercial customers across Salt Lake County, including:
- West Valley City — our home base
- Kearns
- Magna
- Taylorsville
- West Jordan
- Salt Lake City
- Surrounding communities along the Wasatch Front
If you’re inside Salt Lake County, we’re likely within 30 minutes of your home or business. During peak heating and cooling seasons, our typical response time for emergency service runs under 2 hours for same-day calls placed before noon, with same-day arrival on the vast majority of after-hours emergencies.
What Sets Us Apart
- Locally owned. Patrick lives and works in the same valley you do. There’s no out-of-state corporate office routing your service call through a regional dispatcher.
- Long-term technicians. Our field staff averages more than 7 years with the company. You’re not getting whoever the dispatcher could find that morning.
- No commission-driven sales. Our technicians aren’t paid on what they sell. That changes the conversation in your kitchen.
- Brand-agnostic. We service and install Trane, Carrier, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem, Mitsubishi, Bryant, and Daikin equipment. We recommend what fits your home and your budget, not what pays the highest manufacturer incentive.
- Licensed and insured. Utah S350 Mechanical Contractor license #11234567-5501. General liability and workers’ compensation in place on every job site.
