HVAC Financing Options
A new HVAC system is one of the larger investments a homeowner makes outside of the home itself. The right financing turns a $12,000 furnace and AC replacement into a manageable monthly payment instead of a savings-account event. Aegis Heating and Air partners with established consumer finance lenders to offer qualified customers flexible terms — including 0% APR promotional periods, longer-term fixed-rate plans, and approval decisions that usually come back within minutes.
Below is everything you need to know to evaluate whether financing is the right call for your project, including the kinds of plans we offer, who typically qualifies, what the application looks like, and how to apply.
Financing Plans Available Through Aegis
We work with Synchrony Bank and Service Finance Company, which gives us access to a range of programs sized to different project budgets and customer credit profiles. The most common plans for HVAC projects are:
0% APR Promotional Financing
- Promotional period: 18 months of 0% interest if paid in full within the promotional window
- Project size: $1,500 minimum, up to $25,000
- Best for: Customers who can pay off the balance during the promo period and want to avoid interest entirely
- Important note: Deferred-interest plans charge interest retroactively from the purchase date if the balance isn’t paid in full by the promo deadline. We’ll walk through how that works during your consultation.
Fixed-Rate Installment Plans
- Terms available: 24, 36, 60, 84, and 120 months
- APR range: 7.99% – 17.99% based on creditworthiness — exact APR depends on your credit score, term length, and project amount
- Project size: $3,000 minimum, up to $65,000
- Best for: Customers who prefer a predictable monthly payment over a longer term, or whose project size doesn’t fit the 0% promotional limits
Reduced-Rate Promotional Plans
- Promotional rate: 6.99% APR for 84 months on qualifying projects
- Project size: $5,000 minimum, up to $40,000
- Best for: Customers who want a low-rate longer-term option but don’t expect to pay off within a 0% promo window
Estimated Monthly Payments
Below are illustrative monthly payments at common project amounts and terms. These are estimates only — your actual rate, term, and monthly payment will be determined by the lender based on your credit application.
| Project Amount | 60-month / 7.99% APR | 84-month / 9.99% APR | 120-month / 12.99% APR |
|---|---|---|---|
| $5,000 | ~$101/mo | ~$83/mo | ~$75/mo |
| $8,000 | ~$162/mo | ~$133/mo | ~$119/mo |
| $12,000 | ~$243/mo | ~$199/mo | ~$179/mo |
| $18,000 | ~$365/mo | ~$299/mo | ~$269/mo |
| $25,000 | ~$507/mo | ~$415/mo | ~$373/mo |
Estimates assume the listed APR and term. Actual payment depends on creditworthiness, term selected, and any down payment. Subject to credit approval.
How Financing Works at Aegis
The process is designed to be quick and to happen at your kitchen table — not in a finance office.
- Schedule a free in-home estimate. Call (385) 250-0687 or email info@aegisheatingandair.xyz to book. We run a Manual J load calc, measure your existing equipment and ductwork, and provide a written quote with line items — usually delivered within 24 hours of the visit.
- Decide on the equipment and scope. Once you’ve reviewed the quote and chosen the system that fits your home and your budget, we’ll talk through whether financing makes sense and which plan fits your situation.
- Apply. Applications take 5–10 minutes and can be completed by phone with Rachel in our office, in-person at our West Valley City location, or online through the lender’s portal. You’ll need standard information: name, address, employment, income, and Social Security number for the credit check.
- Get a decision. Most applications return a decision within minutes. Approvals typically come back the same business day; complex cases may take 24–48 hours.
- Schedule the install. Once approved, we lock in your install date. The lender funds the project directly once installation is complete — you don’t pay anything upfront for the financed portion. Your monthly payments begin per the loan terms.
Who Typically Qualifies
Each lender has its own credit criteria, but here’s a general guide based on what we see across the programs we partner with:
- Excellent credit (740+): Eligible for 0% APR promotional plans and the lowest fixed-rate options. Highest approval amounts available.
- Good credit (680–739): Eligible for most promotional and fixed-rate plans, with rates in the middle of the published APR range.
- Fair credit (620–679): Eligible for fixed-rate plans, typically at the higher end of the APR range. May require a co-applicant or larger down payment for larger projects.
- Below 620: Standard prime-lender financing is limited. We can discuss alternative options, including second-look programs through some lenders and traditional payment plans handled directly through Aegis on smaller projects.
Credit applications result in a hard inquiry on your credit report, which can temporarily affect your score by a few points. If you’d like to estimate eligibility before formally applying, some lenders offer pre-qualification with a soft inquiry — ask Rachel when you call.
What You’ll Need to Apply
- Government-issued photo ID (Utah driver’s license or state ID)
- Social Security number
- Employer name, address, and phone (or proof of self-employment income)
- Gross monthly or annual income
- Current housing payment (rent or mortgage)
- For larger projects, occasionally: pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements
Applications are processed securely through the lender’s portal. Aegis does not retain your Social Security number or financial data — it goes directly to the lender for the credit decision.
Combining Financing with Rebates and Tax Credits
Many high-efficiency HVAC installations qualify for combined savings beyond financing alone. The big three in Utah right now:
- Federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Tax Credit (25C): Up to 30% of equipment and installation cost for qualifying heat pumps (maximum $2,000), and up to $600 for qualifying high-efficiency furnaces and central AC. This is a federal tax credit claimed on your annual return — verify current eligibility and limits with your tax preparer or at energystar.gov.
- Rocky Mountain Power “Wattsmart” Rebates: Utah utility rebates for qualifying high-efficiency heat pumps, central AC, and smart thermostats. Rebate amounts vary by equipment SEER/HSPF rating. We file these on your behalf when we install qualifying equipment.
- Dominion Energy Therm-Wise Rebates: Rebates for qualifying high-efficiency natural gas furnaces and combination systems. Like the Rocky Mountain Power rebates, we handle the paperwork.
Combining a 0% APR promotional plan with available rebates and the federal tax credit can substantially reduce the effective cost of a high-efficiency install. We model the full math in your quote so you can see the real number after every available incentive.
Financing for Commercial Customers
Light commercial projects — rooftop unit replacements, multi-unit office buildings, restaurant equipment — qualify for separate commercial financing programs through our lender partners. Terms run longer (typically up to 84 months) and project amounts can exceed $100,000. Commercial financing requires business documentation (tax returns, operating statements, sometimes a personal guarantee from the owner). Call (385) 250-0687 to discuss your project.
What Happens If My Application Isn’t Approved?
If the lender declines your application, you’ll receive notice from the lender directly with the specific adverse action reasons under the Equal Credit Opportunity Act. We can also discuss:
- Co-applicant options — adding a spouse or co-signer with stronger credit
- Down payment adjustments — a larger down payment sometimes shifts a borderline application into approval
- Smaller-scope project — repairs or partial system replacements that fit a lower financing threshold
- Second-look lenders — some of our partners have second-look programs for applications that don’t fit prime criteria
- Direct payment plans on smaller projects — for repairs and smaller installs, we can occasionally arrange direct payment terms with Aegis for established customers
The goal is to find a way to get your system fixed or replaced — not to leave you stuck with a broken furnace because one application didn’t go through.
Important Disclosures
Financing programs are offered through third-party lenders. Aegis Heating and Air is not a lender and is not a party to the loan agreement between you and the lender. All financing is subject to credit approval and terms are set by the lender. APRs shown are illustrative ranges only — your actual rate will be disclosed by the lender before you accept the loan. Deferred-interest promotional plans charge interest retroactively from the purchase date if the balance is not paid in full by the end of the promotional period. Read your loan documents carefully and ask the lender any questions before signing.
Rebate and tax credit amounts are subject to change based on federal, state, and utility program rules. Eligibility depends on equipment specifications, installation date, and your tax situation. Aegis does not provide tax advice — consult a qualified tax professional regarding your eligibility for federal or state tax credits.
Apply or Ask a Question
The fastest way to get started is to call Rachel at (385) 250-0687. If you’d prefer to apply online before your in-home estimate, we can send you the lender’s secure application link via email — just call or email and ask Rachel for the pre-application link.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Does applying for HVAC financing affect my credit score?
- A formal credit application results in a hard inquiry, which typically lowers your credit score by 5–10 points temporarily. Some of our lender partners offer pre-qualification with a soft inquiry that doesn’t affect your score — useful if you want to estimate eligibility before committing to a full application. Ask Rachel when you call (385) 250-0687.
- How is 0% APR financing actually free?
- It’s not exactly free — the lender pays Aegis a small dealer fee built into the project price, which lets them offer 0% to qualified customers. The cost is structured into the project total, not added as a hidden fee on top. Critically, 0% promotional plans are typically deferred-interest plans: if you don’t pay the full balance by the end of the promotional period, interest is charged retroactively from the purchase date. We’ll explain exactly how it works before you sign.
- Can I pay off my loan early without a penalty?
- Most of our financing partners do not charge prepayment penalties — you can pay off the loan early at any time, which is especially useful if you’re using a deferred-interest 0% plan and want to pay it down ahead of the promotional deadline. Confirm specifics with the lender’s disclosure before you accept the loan.
- Do I have to put money down to qualify for financing?
- Not usually for residential projects within the standard amount ranges. Most of our financing programs cover 100% of the project cost. A down payment may improve approval odds or unlock better rates for customers with borderline credit, or for very large projects above $25,000. We’ll discuss whether a down payment makes sense for your situation during the quote conversation.
- Can I use financing for repairs, or only for new installations?
- Most of our lender programs require a minimum project amount of $1,500–$3,000, which means smaller repairs typically don’t qualify. For larger repairs — heat exchanger replacement, blower motor + control board combo, major refrigerant work — financing is usually available. For smaller emergency repairs, we accept credit cards, checks, and ACH, and can occasionally arrange direct payment plans on a case-by-case basis.
- How long does the financing approval process take?
- Most applications return a decision within minutes through the lender’s portal. Same-day approval is typical for clean applications. More complex cases — self-employed income, recent credit events, or larger project amounts — may take 24–48 hours for the lender to review. We can usually schedule your install before final approval comes back, contingent on funding.
- What’s the maximum project amount I can finance?
- Residential project amounts typically go up to $65,000 through our standard lender partners, which covers virtually any residential HVAC project — including full system replacements with high-efficiency equipment, ductwork modifications, and indoor air quality upgrades. Commercial projects can exceed this through separate commercial financing programs.
