Most HVAC company galleries are stock photos. Ours isn’t. Every project below was installed by the Aegis crew on a real Salt Lake County home or business — same crews you’ll meet on your job, same standards we apply on every install. We post these because the parts of the work most homeowners never see — line set routing, condensate pitch, sealed return drops, gas line straps, flue terminations — are exactly the parts that determine whether a system lasts 8 years or 20.

Furnace Installations
High-efficiency condensing furnaces, mid-efficiency 80% replacements, and tight-clearance retrofits in older Salt Lake homes. Every furnace install includes combustion analysis, draft verification, and static pressure measurement before we leave the site.

Hunter, West Valley City
Full changeout from an 80% atmospheric unit with new venting through the rim joist. Static pressure measured at 0.42″ w.c. on commissioning. Installed by Travis Hollings.

Bennion, Taylorsville
Replaced a 22-year-old single-stage unit in a tight mechanical closet. Required custom return drop and condensate routing to the floor drain.

The Avenues, Salt Lake City
1950s bungalow retrofit. Existing flue was abandoned; new direct-vent assembly run through the rim. Combustion analysis confirmed 0 ppm CO at high-fire.

Westland, West Jordan
New construction install with dual-fuel heat pump pairing. Sized off a Manual J load calc, not square-footage rule of thumb.
Air Conditioning & Heat Pump Installations
Central AC, two-stage condensers, and variable-capacity inverter-driven heat pumps. At our 4,300-foot elevation, equipment has to be sized differently than the manufacturer’s nominal tonnage suggests — we run elevation-corrected load calcs on every install to avoid the short-cycling problem we see on systems other contractors size by square footage alone.

Granger, West Valley City
3-ton variable-capacity unit on a fresh poured pad. Lineset routed inside the wall cavity, sealed at both penetrations.

Pleasant Green, Magna
Cold-climate inverter-driven heat pump rated for full capacity at -13°F. Paired with existing gas furnace for backup during deep inversions. Installed by Patrick Dugger.

Sugar House, Salt Lake City
Older home retrofit. New disconnect, surge protector at the disconnect, hail guards on the coil. Refrigerant charged by superheat method.

Western Hills, Kearns
Full lineset replacement with the install — we don’t reuse old linesets on R-410A retrofits. New filter drier, properly torqued flares, vacuum pulled to 500 microns and held.
Ductless Mini-Split Installations
Ductless work in additions, finished basements, garage offices, and historic homes where running ductwork isn’t practical. Lineset routing, condensate pitch, and wall-penetration sealing are where ductless installs go wrong most often — and where we spend the most time on the front end.

Westvale, Taylorsville
Three indoor heads serving a finished basement, addition, and primary bedroom. Lineset run through a chase to keep the exterior wall clean.

1920s bungalow with no existing ductwork. Wall-mounted heads on the main level, ceiling cassette in the basement. Installed by Jordan Whitmer and Cole Bennett.

Lake Point area, Magna
Wall-bracket-mounted condenser to clear lake-effect snow drift. Lineset sleeved and pitched for proper drainage.
Custom Ductwork & Sheet Metal
Lead installer Travis Hollings fabricates custom plenums, return drops, and transitions in-house. Most callbacks in this industry trace to bad ductwork — return air starvation, leaky joints, undersized supply trunks — so we treat sheet metal as the part of the job that determines whether the new equipment actually performs.

Hand-fabricated, mastic-sealed at every joint. No tape-only seams.

Sized to the air handler’s required return area. Static pressure verified post-install.

R-8 flex strapped every 4 feet, no compression, fully extended. Boots sealed at the ceiling penetration.

Office building retrofit. Economizer commissioned and verified for free-cooling operation during shoulder seasons.

Mixed-use building on State Street, Salt Lake City
Phased over a weekend to keep the tenant operational. Each unit individually commissioned and balanced.
Indoor Air Quality Installations
Whole-home filtration, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, UV light treatment, and ERV/HRV ventilation. Salt Lake’s persistent winter inversions — documented by the Utah Division of Air Quality — make whole-home filtration a more meaningful investment here than in most parts of the country.

Stonebridge, West Valley City
MERV-16 equivalent filtration with low static pressure penalty. Installed for a household with respiratory sensitivity during inversion season.

Kearns (5400 W / 5400 S area)
Wasatch Front winter air drops below 15% relative humidity for weeks. This system holds the home between 35–45% RH.

Plymouth View, Taylorsville
Coil-mounted UV-C lamp paired with a media cleaner. Reduces biological growth on the evaporator and improves coil heat transfer over time.
Before & After
The difference between a 22-year-old, oversized, atmospheric-vent furnace and a properly sized modern condensing unit isn’t always visible from the thermostat — but it’s obvious from the equipment room.

22 years old, oversized for the home, atmospheric draft, single-stage. Original return drop was undersized — measured static pressure was 1.1″ w.c., nearly double the manufacturer’s spec.

Right-sized off Manual J load calc, new return drop, PVC direct-venting. Final commissioned static pressure: 0.48″ w.c. Home heats more evenly, blower runs quieter, gas consumption dropped roughly 28% on the first full winter.
The Parts You’ll Never See
Most of what makes an HVAC system last is invisible from the living room. Photos below are the details we obsess over on every job.
- Lineset hangers — straight, properly spaced, no sags that pool oil in the suction line
- Condensate pitch — minimum ¼” per foot, supported, sloped to the drain
- Gas line straps — every 6 feet on horizontal runs, properly grounded
- Flue terminations — clearance from openable windows, fresh air intakes, and adjacent property lines verified to Utah code
- Sealed return drops — mastic, not tape, at every joint
- Properly torqued flares — ½” SAE flare torqued to 26 ft-lbs, ⅝” to 38 ft-lbs, every connection
- Refrigerant charge verification — superheat on fixed-orifice systems, subcool on TXV systems, never by gauge pressure alone

Every Aegis install includes documentation photos of the finished system, commissioning measurements (static pressure, refrigerant charge, combustion analysis on gas equipment), and any code-required items like flue terminations and gas line work. Photos are emailed to the homeowner at job completion for their records and for any future warranty claims. What’s the most important thing to look at in an HVAC gallery photo? The details a homeowner usually overlooks: lineset routing (straight, supported, no kinks), condensate pitch (visible slope toward the drain), gas line strapping (every 6 feet on horizontal runs), and how the return drop ties into the air handler. These details predict whether a system runs efficiently for 5 years or 20. A pretty front cabinet doesn’t tell you much; the mechanical room does. Will my install look like the ones in this gallery? If we install it, yes. Our crew works to the same standards on a $4,000 furnace replacement as on a $30,000 commercial rooftop project. The visible quality you see in this gallery — sealed return drops, straight lineset routing, custom plenum fabrication, properly torqued connections — is the baseline for every Aegis job.
